A few days ago we posted a contest for Reds fans to voice their thoughts on who they would trade for if they were Walt Jocketty for one day. Contest Link
Here are my thoughts on the trades;
Alex Gordon would be nice but he is a left-handed bat, which is not what the Reds are really looking for right now. They need a right-handed bat to go between Joey Votto and Jay Bruce.
Matt Albers would also be a nice pitcher to have in the bullpen but from what I have seen the Reds were more interested in finding a left-handed pitcher for the pen.
The players Cincinnati would give up for the players that they really don’t need would be way to much in my mind and I would probably be the first Reds fan to be very upset with a trade like this, if Walt Jocketty made it in real life. I like the idea of it and who doesn’t like a trade between multiple teams? I really liked the detail of the trade and how it would work out for every team. Very nicely done.
Second trade by Reds&Bengals4evr (@cmarsee3)
Reds receive: Adam Dunn
Reds send: ???
I will try to be as nice as I can with this one… ARE YOU CRAZY? I would get on a plane and beat Walt Jocketty with a garden hose (Lead pipe inserted of course) if he made a trade for Adam Dunn. It is true, Adam Dunn knows the team and the ball park, BUT he is not the type of player the Reds really need right now. Plus, he is a left-handed bat. And seeing him play LF again would make me cry, really, it would make me cry like a baby!
Third trade by Redcomet37
Alexei Ramirez would be a solid right-handed number 2 hitter who could hit after Shin-Soo Choo and before Joey Votto. Career .281 hitter in the number two spot with a .323 OBP. Not to mention he might get a few more home runs too by playing in Great American Ball Park.
Jesse Crain is a nice choice but once again he is a right-handed pitcher and the Reds were looking more for a left-handed pitcher to help out in the pen. Plus he was traded just minutes after the post lol.
This is a nice trade idea but once again I am not sure if Walt Jocketty would even talk about it, due to having and liking Zack Cozart. I don’t think they would trade him but I have been wrong many times before.
The three trades were all very nice and I thank you all for posting them. I am going to go with the Alexei Ramirez trade as the winner, due to it giving the Reds something they really need, a right-handed bat to help in the batting order with Shin-Soo Choo, Joey Votto and Jay Bruce.
Thank you all for playing and thanks once again to OOTP 14.
