Reds go home with the win

Cincinnati Reds won today against San Diego Padres (4-1) at PetCo Park in a much-needed win for the Reds. Homer Bailey was pitching great and went 8.1 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run getting 7 strike outs. He has really become a great pitcher to watch now. Aroldis Chapman pitched 0.2 innings to get his 25th save.

Derrick Robinson went 1 for 4 with 1 run, 1 walk and 1 strike out. He layed down a few very nice bunts in this game and so did Zack Cozart who went 2 for 4 with 1 run and 1 strike out. Cozart batted 7th in the batting order while Robinson batted number 1 again. Chris Heisey went 2 for 5 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Joey Votto went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI while Brandon Phillips went 3 for 5 with a home run. Jay Bruce went 1 for 4 and Todd Frazier continues to slump by going 0 for 4 with 2 strike outs. Corky Miller went 1 for 3 and is always a great player to watch play behind the plate. I still think he will be the manager of the Reds one day. Or should I say, I hope he is the manager of the Reds one day? Either way I really would like to see him manage at the pro level later in his life.

Brandon Phillips gets a home run

Todd Frazier has not got a hit since July 25 when he went 2 for 4 against Los Angeles Dodgers. He went 0 for 4 with 2 SO July 31. 0 for 4 vs. Padres on July 30. 0 for 3 on July 29 vs. Padres. O for 3 vs. Dodgers on July 28. 0 for 3, July 27 and O for 3 on July 26 vs. the Dodgers. So he went 2 for 24 against Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres in 7 games. Vs. San Francisco Giants the series before he went 8 for 17 with 6 RBI. He is due to come out of the slump and starting hitting again.
