Estrada allows three homers in loss to Reds
Marco Estrada improved his control, but his problem with giving up home runs continued, and it cost the Brewers in Sunday’s rubber match against Cincinnati. Estrada gave up three home runs — one solo shot and a pair of two-run home runs — and it was enough to down the Brewers in a 13-4 loss to the Reds at Miller Park. Source

Reds roll out the welcome Mat for Latos
In a season plagued by injuries, the Reds have gotten used to welcoming stars back off the DL. Saturday’s game against the Brewers will include another important return for Cincinnati — right-hander Mat Latos, who will be opposed by Yovani Gallardo. Source

Latos will be making his season debut after being on the disabled list rehabbing from elbow and knee surgeries. He had four pain-free rehab starts in Louisville and was stretched out to 100 pitches. He will replace Tony Cingrani in the rotation.

Freaky Friday the 13th: Reds blow lead but win

Billy, do be a hero: Hamilton wins it for Reds
A full moon on Friday the 13th — perhaps that’s the best way to explain this game’s twists and turns. The Reds took advantage of four Brewers errors to take a four-run lead, but the lead evaporated. Up stepped Billy Hamilton, whose RBI single in the ninth secured the victory. Source

Heisey and Frazier use the force! #Reds win 4-3 over #Brewers in the 10th

Cincinnati Reds 3B Todd Frazier hit a 92 MPH fastball from Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Tyler Thornburg to score RF Chris Heisey to win the game in the 10th inning. This was another great game to watch and it is very nice to see all of the seats full for home games. I would say the Star Wars weekend went very well for the Reds and they should do more theme weekends if it helps the club win ball games.

C Brayan Pena hit another home run tonight and it was a bomb! He now has 3 home runs for the Reds this season and will soon break his season high of 6 which he hit in 2009 for the Kansas City Royals. Pena only has about 20 home runs in his whole career. Playing in Great American Ball Park will really help him this season with the long ball. Hopefully that does not take anything away from his swing and he still hits a .290+ BA. Another plus to him getting playing time is, RHP Johnny Cueto really seems to like him as a catcher and has thrown the ball very well.

Reds Catcher Brayan Pena’s stats this season before today’s game.

#Reds use the fourth, with Chris Heisey

Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey is batting 4th today due to the late lineup scratch of RF Jay Bruce. Heisey has batted 4th in the lineup in 13 games, 2 of them starts. In 24 PA he has 3 hits, 1 run, 1 HR and 2 RBI with 2 BB and 6 SO giving him a .150 BA, .261 OBP, .300 SLG and a .561 OPS. Some people love him, some hate him and some really don’t care but I think we all can agree having him bat fourth in the lineup today is just crazy, especially after he just came off an 0 for 4 game batting first yesterday. I think manager Bryan Price is hoping he will come up big for the team today and many will say 13 games is way to small of a sample size to judge how well Heisey will do today. I hope they are right and he comes up big for the Reds today. Since it is Star Wars weekend at Great American Ball Park maybe Heisey will use the Force and hit some home runs!

#Reds RF Jay Bruce late scratch (Knee)

Cincinnati Reds RF Jay Bruce was a late scratch in the lineup today against Milwaukee Brewers due to knee soreness. Chris Heisey will take his place in the lineup and hopefully will get at least one hit this game.
